Milk, on the other hand, is another hot topic in the world of new healthy diets. Is it bad or is it good? In it's simplest form, it is fat and water, and in most recent years cow's milk has been on every dietician's radar. This is for a few reasons. First, milk is not the only good source of calcium and vitamin D. Calcium can be obtained from several other sources, most notably dark leafy greens. Secondly, it has come to many a dietician's attention that cow's milk is not absorbed and processed well by the body. However, it is a carbohydrate and full of starch, which is something to be weary of. Starch has a tendency to become acidic in the body, which is not the optimal consistency for proper digestion or losing weight. Alkalinity is what the body craves. Breads made with whole grains and sprouted breads are easier for the body to digest and contain far more vitamins and nutrients than regular bread. So if you're having a bread craving, opt for sprouted bread. And if you're feeling daring, try weaning yourself off of it altogether.

The newest of healthy diets would be the raw food diet. The premise is simple. Incorporate as many raw foods into your diet as possible – the more the better. This does not merely include salads, but also creative methods of concocting meals without heating anything over 120 degrees. Breads and raw food versions of baked goods are dehydrated, not baked. Sauces and soups are blended, not cooked. Whether one chooses to opt for a raw-food diet, incorporating raw foods can only be beneficial. Why? Fruits and vegetables in their raw form retain their vitamins and minerals which are often severely diminished the cooking process.

Finally, the best rule of thumb when it comes to food is to listen to your body. Belching and other signs of excess gas are signs of incompatibility with your body. Don't eat foods that cause them. Frequent break outs after eating candy or drinking soda may be signs that your body could benefit from less sugar. And heartburn, it indicates too much acid. Try incorporating more alkaline foods. Whatever you choose to eat, if your body gives you signs of incompatibility, believe it. Take your body's advice. This the truest of new healthy diets. Listen to your body and eat right.
